Please remember to scroll down, there are more songs.
1. "The Battlefront" Grade 2.5 was a piece I wrote for organizational contest. It is a piece that pushes the limits of every section while moving from 3/4 to 5/8 to 3/8 several times. Your percussionists will love you!
2. MOST POPULAR "Chasing the Goblin" Grade 2 has come to be a favorite of directors and kids. I wrote this for my Halloween concert. This song will definitely keep your percussion students busy.
3. "Rock It!" Grade 1.5 This song is all about fun to the kids. For the band director, it will have the 2nd year students expand their range to concert C as well as learn to play eighth rest, eighth note rhythms.
3. "Medieval Times" Grade 1.5-2 The kids loved this song because of the hand claps. Make sure to really observe the accents in the handclapping section. There is an incorrect reoccuring note in the handclapping section in the audio below, please try to ignore it, the software would not let me get rid of it. I will post the best recording any band can make of this song, so.....let's see what you've got!
4."Troy" Grade 2 This is a song inspired by the story of the Trojan horse. In the beginning it starts out very soft and minimal because the soldiers are climbing out of the horse and getting ready to go around the city to kill the soldiers of Troy. The first percussion break simulates the doors of Troy being flung open and the enemy troops enter. The song continues to build to show moment in the battle. The second percussion break the kids will have a partner. One partner will grab a stand (the shield) as the other partner acts like he is hitting the stand with a sword, make sure they strike the music stand to make a sound. The end of the song will end with the killing of Achilles. Inthis part the song slows down and becomes minimalistic again.
